I made 5 cards, lol I just got to going and could not stop. The criteria was:

Card Style – Book Binding Card

Technique – Mixed Media (no card stock does not count)

Object – Butterfly (my choice)

Color – Blue & Pink (audience suggestion)

Theme – 4th of July (also recognized as Alice and Wonderland Day, hee, hee, hee)

1st card – used an old fun stampers journey embossing folder – Love Letter and ink smooshed, and flicked the colors – pink and blue (makes purple, lol). Watercolored and stamped with Elizibeth Craft CS303 Me Time and CS293 Journal Dates and Month stamp sets.  For the butterfly used Simple Stores Simple Vintage Rub-ons on vellum and then cussy cut it out to pop it up on the card.  Also decorated the inside of the card with the leftover rub-ons.  Used Tombow watercolor pens for the water coloring, Lisa Horton Interference cloud 9 Opal Blush and Cherry bomb shimmer and Catherine poolers – Over Coffee to distress the edges.

2nd card – Used a sizzix Butterfly die to make a stencil and ink blended using Lisa Horton Interference cloud 9 Opal Blush and Cherry bomb shimmer and Catherine poolers – Over Coffee to distress the edges. Then used Brass & Bliss 3464 Winters Night stamp set over the butterfly stencil and topped it off with one of my all time favorite stamps from Local King Rubber Stamp – Words stamp to add a beautiful script over the card.

3rd card – Used the new Spellbinders BetterPress BP-323 Butterfly Splatter plate with Lisa Horton Interference cloud 9 Opal Blush and Cherry bomb shimmer. Used the fun stampers journey embossing folder – Love Letter with Lisa Horton Opal Blush shimmer over the top.

What a simple but beautiful card

4th card – Used the Paper Rose Studio Rainbow Gardn 1.0 6×8 Quick Cards Collection to make a rainbow gnome and butterfly card.

5th card – For those of you that know me you know I hate leaving scraps to I used the Sizzix Butterfly die used in card 2 to make my last card ink blended with Lisa Horton Interference cloud 9 Opal Blush and Cherry bomb shimmer and Paper Rose Studio Rainbow Gardn 1.0 6×8 Quick Cards Collection to make a quick and simple card.  This card kit really makes some stunning card in just minutes.

The Challenge:

This week’s creative criteria were:

  • Card Style: Book Binding Card
  • Technique: Mixed Media (no plain cardstock!)
  • Object: Butterfly 🦋
  • Color Palette: Blue & Pink 💙💗 (audience pick!)
  • Theme: 4th of July meets Alice in Wonderland Day 🎆🫖

And once I got started… I couldn’t stop! I made FIVE cards, each with its own twist. Let’s dive in:

🦋 Card 1: Vintage Vibes & Ink Smoosh Magic

I used an old Fun Stampers Journey embossing folder (Love Letter) and went wild with ink smooshing in pink and blue—hello, purple! Watercolored with Tombow pens and stamped with Elizabeth Craft’s Me Time and Journal Dates sets. The butterfly? Rub-ons from Simple Stories on vellum, fussy cut and popped up. Even the inside got love with leftover rub-ons!

🦋 Card 2: Stenciled Elegance

I turned a Sizzix butterfly die into a stencil and ink blended with Lisa Horton shimmer and Catherine Pooler’s Over Coffee. Then layered Brass & Bliss Winters Night stamps and topped it off with my fave script stamp from Local King Rubber Stamp.

🦋 Card 3: BetterPress Beauty

This one’s simple but stunning. I used the Spellbinders BetterPress BP-323 Butterfly Splatter plate with shimmer inks and layered it over the Love Letter embossing folder. A dreamy combo!
